Today I found pickles in my shoes. I wonder who could have done that? I think it was Howzer. He is trying to get me back for dumping the water on his head yesterday.
Today we stopped at the island of Golson, there were a whole bunch of kids wearing brightly colored clothes. They tried to buy everything we had. I tried to sell them R.O. but he caught on to my plan.
Today R.O. got his peg leg stuck in a hole in the deck. He walked around in circles for hours while Howzer, Bones and I shot spitballs at him from the crow’s nest.
Today Captain wanted to move the rowboats from one side of the boat to the other. So Bones and I became captains of our own vessels. The oars were missing, so we had to pull the boats around using ropes. It only took me a few minutes. Bones was out there for over 3 hours.
We had our lunch outside today. The seagulls were flying all around the boat. Bones had to keep fighting them in order to eat his food. In fact there were so many seagulls, that wanted his lunch, they carried Bones away. We haven't seen him in a while.
The wind quit blowing today. The boat has been sitting very still. Chumbucket likes it like this. Also because the wind isn't blowing it feels like it is one thousand degrees out here. R.O. must still be cold because he is wearing long sleeves.
Today we ran across an island off the coast of Oklahoma. There we found a new crew member named Stash. It is going to be a lot of fun teaching Stash the ropes. Maybe I can get him to do my work too.
We have been sailing north for quite a while now. It has gotten real cold. We sailed through an erie lake then we saw what Captain thought were mermaids. It turned out to be some real tall native girls. They were all waving cheese at us. I thought that was a little wierdword strange. One of girls had a little black dog with a pegleg. So Captain made her part of the crew. She stays up real late and is grumpy in the morning. So Captain named her Midnight Amanda.
Today we took the rowboats ashore. We had to travel through a muddy swamp. We started hearing a lot of noise. We came around a bend and saw a girl holding onto a vine over a bunch of gators. She had a tomahawk that she was waving at them to keep them away. We rowed over and let her get into the rowboat. She went looking for treasure with us. Captain has commented how good the weather has been since she came aboard. So he has named her Fair Weather Heather.
